Mail-in repair

Mail-in repair, from any state

Can't get to Arlington? Ship us your device. We do the same board-level microsoldering by mail that we do at the bench — logging and photographing every device on arrival, sending you a $65 written quote before any work, and tracking your package both ways. Customers in all 50 states use us as the lab their local shop can't be.

The short answer

Mail-in repair works the same as a walk-in: ship your device with tracking from any of the 50 states, and on arrival we log and photograph it, then run the $65 written diagnostic and send a quote before any work. Nothing is touched until you approve. We handle board-level microsoldering most local shops can't.

Packaged device · tracked

Mail-in repair is simple: you tell us what's wrong, ship your device in with tracking, and we treat it exactly like a walk-in. On arrival it's logged and photographed so there's a clear record of how it reached us. We run the same $65 written diagnostic and send you a quote — the real price and what we found — before anyone touches a soldering iron. Nothing gets repaired until you approve it. If you decide not to go ahead, you owe the diagnostic and we ship it back. Your device is handled securely the whole time, and we never sell or share your data.

Signs of a board-level fault

  • You're outside the DC area and need real board-level work, not a parts-swap
  • Your local shop said the board damage was beyond them or "unrepairable"
  • It's a microsoldering job — no-power, water damage, motherboard or charging-port fault
  • You need data recovered from a device that won't turn on
  • A carrier or manufacturer quoted a full replacement you'd rather avoid
  • You want a written diagnosis and quote before committing to anything

Honest by default

Every board starts with a $65 diagnostic and a written report — exact cost and timeline before we touch it. The fee applies toward your repair.

How does the mail-in repair process work?

Five steps. You contact us and describe the problem; we send shipping instructions. You pack the device and mail it in with tracking. On arrival we log it, photograph it, and run the $65 written diagnostic. We send you a quote with the exact price and what we found — and we only start once you approve it. When it's done (or if you decline), we ship it back to you with tracking.

How should I pack my phone so it ships safely?

Power it off, remove any SIM or SD card, and wrap the device in a couple of layers of bubble wrap. Put it in a sturdy small box with cushioning around all sides so it can't move — not just a padded envelope, which doesn't protect a screen or board. Drop a note inside with your name, phone number, return address and a short description of the problem. We'll send exact instructions when you start, and we recommend a tracked, insured shipping option.

Is my data safe, and should I back up first?

Yes, back up first if your device will still let you — to iCloud, Google, or a computer — because we'd rather you have a copy regardless of what we do. We only access what's needed to test the repair and confirm it works, your device is logged and photographed on arrival and handled securely throughout, and we never sell or share your data. If the device won't power on at all, tell us — board-level recovery is exactly the kind of work we do.

What if my device can't be fixed?

Then you'll know honestly and quickly. The $65 diagnostic exists so you get a clear answer and a written quote before any work or expense — and that fee applies toward the repair if you go ahead. If the board is genuinely too far gone, we'll tell you straight rather than run up a bill, and we'll ship the device back to you with tracking.

How long does a mail-in repair take, and what about the warranty?

Plan on roughly a week to ten business days door to door, depending on shipping time, the queue, and how involved the repair is. We diagnose within a day or two of arrival and keep you updated by email or text at each stage. Warranties are the same as in-lab: one year on OEM and OLED screen work, one month on aftermarket parts.

Can you really do board-level work by mail?

Yes — most of our microsoldering customers never walk through the door. No-power faults, water damage, motherboard repair, charging-port and data-recovery work all travel fine by mail. It's the same lab, the same bench, and the same written-quote-before-work process whether you hand us the device in Arlington or ship it from across the country.

The lab your local shop ships to

Plenty of repair shops can't do board-level microsoldering, so they mail the hard cases out to a lab like ours. Mailing in skips the middleman: you ship straight to the people doing the soldering. For 11 years we've done component-level work on no-power, water-damaged, and "unrepairable" boards, and we treat a mailed-in device exactly like a walk-in — logged and photographed on arrival, a $65 written quote before any work, tracked shipping both ways, and the same one-year OEM/OLED warranty. We never sell your data, and if it can't be saved we'll say so plainly.
